Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 5, 2026 | Last Updated: July 5, 2026Welcome to Milestone Virtual Challenges, operated by Milestone Labs ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.
By downloading or using our App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
We collect several types of information to provide and improve our Service:
- Account Information: When you sign in using Google Sign-In, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google, which we use to create and maintain your account.
- Health and Fitness Data: To calculate distance and calories, we may ask for physical attributes such as your weight, height, and measurement unit preference. This is not treated as medical data.
- Precise Location Data (GPS): To track your walks, map routes, and calculate accurate distances for your virtual challenges, we access your device's precise GPS location while you are actively using the tracking feature. This data is used to plot your route and synchronize your progress securely with your user profile in Firebase. We do not track your location in the background after you stop a session.
- Activity and Gamification Data: We collect data about your walks, challenge participation, earned badges, streak counts, and overall progression within the App's gamified system.
- Device and Analytics Data: We automatically collect certain information through Firebase Analytics, including your device type, operating system version, and App usage patterns (e.g., screens viewed, features used) to understand how the App is used and to improve the experience. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
- Advertising Identifiers: When ads are shown in the App (via Google AdMob), AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID to serve relevant ads. See Section 5 for full details.

3. Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party services to operate the App. Each has its own Privacy Policy governing its data use:
- Google Firebase: Used for user authentication (Google Sign-In), cloud database (Firestore), and analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Google AdMob: Used to display advertisements within the App. AdMob may collect your advertising ID and other identifiers to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized ads via your device's Ad Settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
- Mapbox: Used to render interactive maps for visualizing your walk routes. Mapbox may receive your route coordinates to display the map. Mapbox Privacy Policy
4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
We may share data only in the following limited situations:
- Service Providers: We share data with our third-party providers (Google Firebase, AdMob, Mapbox) only as strictly necessary to operate the App, as described above.
- Legal Obligations: We may disclose your information where required by law, a court order, or governmental request.
- Business Transfer: If Milestone Labs is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App uses Google AdMob to display ads. Google AdMob may use the data it collects (such as your advertising ID) to show you personalized ads based on your interests. You can control whether you receive personalized ads:
- On Android: Go to Settings → Google → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalization".
- You can also reset your advertising ID at any time from the same menu.
For more details on how Google uses data from apps, visit: How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.
6. Location Data — Special Notice
We access your device's precise location (GPS) exclusively while you are actively using the walk tracking feature. The location permission is used to:
- Trace your walking route on the map.
- Calculate the accurate distance you walked for challenge verification.
- Update your progress on the virtual challenge roadmap.
We never access your location in the background when the tracking session is not active. You may revoke location permission at any time from your device settings; however, this will prevent the walk tracking feature from functioning.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You have the absolute right to delete your account and all associated data at any time by navigating to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account within the App. This action permanently purges your activity, health data, challenges, badges, and profile from our active servers.
Residual copies in encrypted backup systems may persist for up to 30 days before being fully removed. For manual deletion requests, contact us at support@milestonelabs.app. See also our Account Deletion page.
8. Security of Your Information
We employ administrative, technical, and physical security measures — including Firebase Firestore Security Rules and encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) — to protect your personal information. While we take reasonable precautions, no security system is completely impenetrable. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request deletion of your data (see Section 7).

10. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
